The Dog House you want to be in!

It’s not all too often you want to be put in the doghouse, but when you visit Tongabezi Lodge you’ll want to voluntarily check in here.

They have turned the “doghouse” stigma on its back, ready for a tummy rub, by naming one of their luxury houses nestled along the Zambezi River after it. Dreamy, out of this world, and beyond compare are just a few of the descriptors past guests have used to portray the Dog House.

Here are 5 reasons why you want to find yourself in this particular one:

1. Elevated in nature

Three separated decks are connected to each other only by elevated walkways made from sustainable pine forest wood. You are totally submerged in the wilderness setting when you book yourself in here. When the water levels are high, the Zambezi River runs underneath all of the rooms adding a real “Tarzan and Jane”element to your stay.

2. Spectacular views from every nook

Located at the furthest edges of the Tongabezi garden, there’s always a spectacular view to take in from the Dog House. Whether you are indoors or outdoors, the views from every window, sofa, bed and bath are otherworldly and totally private. The only beings you’ll see are the many birds, monitor lizards, and resident hippos and elephants that come to drink from the river. A bush bath with a sunset view remains a firm favourite amongst guests.

3. Personal valet

It may be hard to believe that a doghouse can come with a personal valet ready to cater to your every need, but it is delightfully true. Rose petals in the bath and handwritten notes are just a few of the extra special touches that one can expect. Friendly and kind, your butler will make sure your stay is exceptionally comfortable without being intrusive.

4. There’s a bar and plunge pool

Need we say more? Good cocktails are an intricate part of an African holiday. Sipping on one while watching the hippos wallow and sun setting along the Zambezi is just the cherry on top. Add a dip in the plunge pool on a warm summer’s day and you’ll feel like a happy dog with a bone.

5. Fit for families and friends

The Dog House sleeps five and is the perfect escape for family and friends who love to travel and do so together. Each room can be arranged as a double or twin and there are two en-suite bathrooms with a walkway and deck in between them. The central living area, with both indoor and outdoor entertainment areas, is expansive and luxurious and boasts incredible spaces to relax and unwind.
