Hop onboard your mokoro, a traditional dugout canoe, and trek through the winding channels of Botswana’s Okavango Delta, encircled by hundreds of lily pads and papyrus leaves. Silently observe the Delta wildlife, ranging from an antelope grazing on the grassy banks to a fish eagle soaring up in the air and a hippo popping its head up from under water. This is the beginning of one of the most thrilling safari experiences imaginable.
Island camping may not be the most acclaimed adventure activity of all time. Yet, when you add the starlit night sky and the untouched African wilderness into the mix you’re faced with an opportunity to experience Africa in its purest form.
Once you’ve landed your mokoro on an island nestled within the wide channels you will traverse into the Botswana bushveld on foot and find a spot for your temporary bush home. Erect your tent and enjoy a dinner around the bonfire. Get ready to welcome a night in the wild whilst you admire the sparkly stars and listen to the sounds of nocturnal Botswana.
